Jackie Bradley Jr.’s Joe D moment
By Manny Randhawa/for Sports On Earth
Bradley is now seven short of the franchise record: 34 straight games with a hit, set by Dom DiMaggio in 1949. If he gets a hit on Tuesday at home against Colorado, Bradley would then be halfway to the Major League record of 56 straight set by Joe DiMaggio in 1941.
The latter DiMaggio’s streak ended on July 17 of that season in a game against the Indians at Cleveland Stadium. But a play made on his hard smash down the third-base line in the first inning, had it taken place today, might’ve resulted in the streak continuing.
